Rae has been interested in all aspects of art, sculpture and design since an early age. Initially, he dabbled in pencil drawing and sculpture. In his teens, he painted in oils and water colours. During his formative years, he studied the techniques of the great masters of the Renaissance period, abstract expressionist and impressionist.

Admiration for the works and techniques of wild life artists such as Robert Bateman, John Seerey Lester and Ron Parker significantly influenced Rae’s gravitation to wild life art. He is a self taught realist.

In 1997, Rae had Robert Bateman critique some of his paintings. His positive comments and recommendations provided the impetus for Rae to pursue painting more seriously. What began as a hobby, soon became a passion.

His love of nature and animals has motivated him to use the vibrant colours of his palette to portray subjects that are brought to life on his canvas. He believes that being able to express oneself through various media forms is an incredible gift that should be nurtured.

In spite of the fact that Rae seldom exhibited his works, several of his paintings adorn the walls of prominent homes in Canada, the U.S.A., Mexico, Australia and the Caribbean.
